Chrome Extensions — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how LightCube Labs ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use any Chrome extension published by LightCube Labs. We build browser tools designed to work locally on your device with minimal data collection.
1. Extensions Covered
This policy applies to all Chrome extensions published by LightCube Labs, including but not limited to:

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data Stored Locally
Our extensions store the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs (chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.sync):
- User preferences and settings — display options, feature toggles, and configuration you choose.
- Content you create — notes, bookmarks, QR codes, screenshots, recordings, or other outputs generated by the extension. These remain on your device.
- Usage counters — local counters for free-tier usage limits (e.g., number of generations per day). These are not transmitted to any server.
- License status — whether a Pro subscription is active, stored locally after verification.
2.2 Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not use third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or behavioral profiling.
- We do not collect browsing history, keystrokes, or form data outside of the extension's explicit features.
- We do not use advertising identifiers or fingerprinting.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
2.3 Optional Cloud Features
Some extensions offer optional AI-powered features (summarization, transcription, translation, analysis) that require sending content to a third-party AI provider. This happens only when you explicitly invoke the feature. Data sent to these providers is governed by their respective privacy policies. Providers may include OpenAI, Google, Deepgram, Groq, or Cerebras.
3. Permissions We Request
Each extension requests only the Chrome permissions necessary for its core functionality:

We never request permissions beyond what the extension needs. If a permission is listed in the manifest but not required for core functionality, please contact us and we will remove it in the next update.
4. How We Use Information
Information processed by our extensions is used solely to provide the extension's functionality to you. Specifically:
- To display, save, and manage content you create or organize within the extension.
- To remember your preferences and settings across browser sessions.
- To enforce free-tier usage limits locally.
- To verify Pro subscription status with our payment provider.
5. Third-Party Services
Our extensions may interact with the following third-party services:
- Stripe — For payment processing when you purchase a Pro subscription. We do not store your payment card details. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- AI Providers (OpenAI, Google, Deepgram, Groq, Cerebras) — Only when you explicitly use an AI-powered feature. Content is sent for processing and is not stored by us afterward.
6. Data Retention
- Locally stored data persists until you clear it, reset the extension, or uninstall it.
- We do not maintain a central server that stores your extension data.
- If you uninstall an extension, all locally stored data is automatically deleted by Chrome.
7. Data Security
Our extensions are designed to minimize data exposure by processing information locally whenever possible. We follow Chrome extension security best practices including Content Security Policy headers, minimal permission requests, and Manifest V3 architecture.
8. Children's Privacy
Our extensions are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through our extensions, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — all data is stored locally and visible to you within the extension.
- Delete your data — clear extension storage, reset settings, or uninstall the extension.
- Opt out of optional cloud features — simply don't use AI-powered features if you prefer fully local operation.
- Revoke permissions — manage extension permissions in Chrome's settings at
chrome://extensions.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA including the right to know what data is collected and the right to request deletion.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when we change our extensions' features or data practices. The latest version will always be published at this URL. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
